Naming conventions for files copied during a load

During a data load process, some files are copied and renamed to ensure that no existing files are overwritten.

Control File

After a Control file has been detected and processed, it is copied and renamed. The naming convention used for the copy includes the date and time. This means that no Control files will be overwritten and a file can be reviewed at a later date, if required. The renamed filename starts with 'CON' to identify it as a Control file.

Log File

During the importing process, a log file is created that shows the progress of the load. This file has a similar naming convention to the Control file. It will start with 'LOG' and contain the date and time. Therefore, multiple loads can take place without the log files being overwritten.

Data Audit File

If the DATA_AUDIT option is used in the Data Transformation script, a file is produced. This filename starts with 'AUD' and includes the date and time. There will be many instances of this file, as it will not be overwritten due to the naming convention.

The inclusion of the date in the file names makes it possible to see the results of each load and the affect that it has had on the database.

The files are located in the directory specified when the Scriptset was configured.
